Robert Yeoman has been the cinematographer for nearly 50 films, including feature hits Yes Man, Bridesmaids, Get Him to the Greek and all of Wes Anderson’s live-action films (Bottlerocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited, Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel). He won an Independent Spirit Award in 1990 for his cinematography on Gus Van Sant’s Drugstore Cowboy and was nominated in 2013 for Moonrise Kingdom. A native of Pennsylvania who grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, Yeoman earned his A.B. in psychology from Duke and an M.F.A. from the University of Southern California. He broke into the entertainment business shooting commercials and earned his first motion picture credit in 1985, serving as the second unit director of photography on William Friedkin’s To Live and Die in LA. Among the films he has worked on since are Noah Bombach’s The Squid and the Whale, Kevin Smith’s Dogma, Roman Coppola’s CQ, Wes Craven’s Red Eye and Drew Barrymore’s Whip It. His most recent film is Bill Pohlad’s biopic of Brian Wilson, Love and Mercy. Yeoman is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. He has also served as a juror at the Sundance Film Festival and the Gotham Awards. He lives in Santa Monica, California with his wife and two children and remains an ardent fan of Duke basketball.
