seguimos aquí is a short documentary film that reflects on how the parallels between present and past influence familial folk stories. Through meditative and durational imagery, the film forms an intimate mosaic of labor, loss, migration, and womanhood. to reclaim and celebrate the narrative of a mother, grandmother, and woman.

Emma Volz is a filmmaker from Mesa, Arizona whose artistic practice has evolved alongside her discovery of self within a larger community of family, both living and deceased. As a filmmaker, granddaughter, daughter, and mother, Emma creates images and tells stories that attest to family relationships’ potential for transcendence. She seeks to reverently celebrate the quiet and holy presence of the mundane and the compounded wisdom of ordinary living. Through restrained narrative pacing, observational cinematography, and digitized ancestral artifacts, her work reflects on how familial places, and our proximity to them, shape generational connection, history, and memory.
