Scene on Radio Live Podcast Event | Post-“Capitalism”: Towards a Democratic Economy?

December 5, -
Speaker(s): John Biewen, Ellen McGirt, Chenjerai Kumanyika, Camryn Smith, Courtney Smith
Join the hosts of the acclaimed podcast Scene on Radio for a live event that asks how we can move toward a more just, sustainable, and democratic economy in this moment - and yes, we mean after the 2024 election.

Featuring host John Biewen and co-hosts Ellen McGirt (editor of Design Observer Magazine) and Chenjerai Kumanyika (professor of journalism at NYU), the recording from this event will be incorporated into a bonus episode for Scene on Radio's 7th season, "Capitalism," which unravels the history of our current economic system and speculates on its future - including whether or not it has one.

Special guests Camryn Smith, Executive Director of Durham's Communities in Partnership, and Courtney Smith of the Culinary Femme Collective will speak about how we can drive economic change at the local level.

Audience members are invited to weigh in and ask questions during the Q&A. Who knows, you may even end up as a guest on Scene on Radio's next episode!

This event takes place at Motorco Music Hall in downtown Durham, NC. Tickets are available on their website.

Available on all podcast platforms, Scene on Radio comes to you from the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University.
