We're going deep on sound-and we hope y'all will help us. From Raven Chacon's "Silent Choir" and the shin shin of falling snow to aqueous environments and Peter Blasser's cornucopia of circuits, tonight's program invites you to hear what happens when sound plays in the cinematic foreground. Featuring sequences from sound-aware films and films about sound-rich ideas, the curation highlights intermingled themes of silence, water, and electronic experimentation. Between acts, tune your sense and listen deeply to interstitial sonic experiments! Really, who wants to hear actors talk anyway?
Selected films to be screened Ocean Studies (Alice Guy; 1906) 32 Sounds (Sam Green; 2022) Deep Listening: The Story of Pauline Oliveros (2022) Earthworks: Animal Collective (2017) Gonzo Circuits: The Synths of Peter B (Sam Linder; 2016)
