Bill Morrison's films have been screened at festivals, museums and concert halls worldwide, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Orphan film Symposium, the Tate Modern, London, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles. Eight of his titles have been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art. Morrison is a Guggenheim fellow and a recipient of the Alpert Award. He has received grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Creative Capital, and The National Endowment for the Art. Morrison's film The Great Flood screened at Duke's Reynolds Industries Theatre on November 5th, 2011. Musician Bill Frisell composed the score and performed it live.

Acclaimed English director and screenwriter John Akomfrah visited the MFAEDA Carpentry Shop on October 26th to discuss his approach to filmmaking and to participate in critiques of MFA student work. Akomfrah also screened and discussed his previous work and artistic practice with the greater Duke and Durham communities at the Nasher Museum of Art on October 27th.
