VFF: Visualizing Human Populations and Data Sampling for Global Health Research

Friday, September 15, 2017 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

I will discuss a series of animated videos I created to help teach core concepts in global health epidemiology. The focus of the talk will be on how best to represent individual people, who themselves, embody specific human characteristics, and to show how to visualize these human populations moving through time and space. I will also discuss issues with competing scales of visualizations within the same teaching module and when and how to choose between visualizing concrete versus abstract ideas.
